It is our pleasure to invite you to the second edition of the Sub-Saharan International Model United Nations conference, which will take place on the 2nd-6th of July 2018 in the city of Nairobi, Kenya.
What is MUN?
Model United Nations, also known as Model UN or MUN, is an extra-curricular activity in which students roleplay as delegates in the United Nations and simulate UN committees.
Nairobi is the capital and the largest city of Kenya. It is home to the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and the United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON), where the conference will be taking place.
See how it was last year!
From June 19th to 23rd 2017, 400+ university and high school delegates gathered at the United Nations Office of Nairobi to undertake an international relations simulation. The week was filled with high-quality debates on everything from the role of the Gulf States in the Syrian refugee crisis to the factors leading to the rise of radicalization and violent extremism among youth.
Highlights of the conference included a Global Village event where delegates got to perform traditional dances and songs, a trip to the Turkish Embassy in Nairobi to network with the Turkish Ambassador to Kenya Her Excellency Ms. Deniz Eke.
